This year we will again stay at the Marriot Springhill Suites, which is located right across the street from the Host Hotel, The Hilton.

The accomodations are amazing.  A roof top pool, fire pit, laundry, view of the strip and a FREE FULL Breakfast every morning!

The Marriot Springhill Suites offer the best of both worlds; convenience, a short walk to the strip and Baker to Vegas activities, and quiet for those who wish to avoid the "glitz."  We had a great stay in 2010 and are happy to be able to secure these accomodations for 2011!

Let's get ready for Baker to Vegas 2011!

It's that time of year again!

Every year, for the last 27 years, the Los Angeles Police Department has hosted a relay race called the Baker to Vegas Challenge Cup Relay. The race began with 19 teams as a way for police officers to improve their physical fitness. Last year 251 teams entered. Of those 251, four were from outside the United States and include Australia, Germany, Royal Mounted Canadian Police and Calgary, Canada. This year there are more than 260 teams who will participate. The race begins in Baker California and ends in Las Vegas Nevada. Though the course is 120 miles long, each of the 20 legs is only 4.5-7 miles in length. This race has been described as “highly competitive” and promotes camaraderie, physical fitness, pride and team work. Former participants have also stated that the race is extremely fun and challenging.

The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office previously participated in the race but had been inactive for the last several years, until 2009. We participated again in 2010 and would like continue our participation in 2011. I wanted to take a moment to invite you to participate with “Team ACSO” in the 2011 Baker to Vegas Challenge Cup Relay race. We are seeking both runners and support staff to become involved as well as assistance with fundraising efforts and other tasks in support of our participation. Please note that for 2011, runners may be sworn staff or technicians, but support staff may be civilian staff and/or volunteers. This year the race is scheduled for the weekend of April 15-17, 2011. Though our entry fee is due December 15th 2010.

Please respond to this communication as soon as possible if you are interested in participating. Send emails to Teamacso@gmail.com, take a moment to view the official race website at http://www/bakervegas.com.

Please make sure that “Baker to Vegas” is in the subject line of any correspondence you send, and that you indicate whether you’d like to participate as a runner, support staff, or would simply like to assist with fundraising efforts or other tasks in support of our participation.

Thank you for your time and support,
TEAMACSO

Baker School Relay Kids K-12

For over a quarter of a century the Baker to Vegas (B2V) Relay and LAPD Police Revolver and Athletic Club have had a wonderful relationship with the Baker Community and especially the school.  Race officials continue to encourage all participants to visit the school and see its show of pride in the relay race event.

This year the students at the school will participate in the First Annual Baker School Relay. Approximately 25 children will run from in front of the school to the B2V Relay Starting Line on Saturday morning,  B2V race day. Race officials have requested 25 Baker to Vegas teams to each take one child as a member of their team and issue the school child a team jersey. To do this, contact  Eric Drake, a teacher at Baker School.  (Email TeamACSO for contact information to donate to the Baker School.)
To date, the Baker School Relay is now full and each child in the race has received a t-shirt!  The next step is to get all the children at the school wear a t-shirt from teams in the race! The school Principal Ronda Tremblay can also be reached at ronda_tremblay@baker.k12.ca.us.

Make all arrangements with the Principal to adopt one the children at Baker School. This year, as in all the years of this event, B2V participating teams have been generous with donations. Please continue support. To do so, please send a check made payable to: Baker Valley Unified School District, c/o Baker to Vegas Race, P O Box 861148, LA, CA 90086-1148.

Race officials want to thank all the teams that gave one of their team shirts students. Photos of the Baker School Race will be taken and posted tot he Official B2V website after the race weekend.
